Help A Child Successfully Complete High School!

Our current fundraising priority is raising support for the children from poverty-stricken homes in rural South Africa, so that they may live in the Hostel Facilities operated by the Themba Trust, a 35-year old non-profit organisation, which has quietly worked in a forgotten corner of Mpumalanga Province, on the border to KwaZulu-Natal, to help teenagers, mainly children of farmworkers in the area, to successfully complete their high school education.

In 2019, the Themba Trust requires Scholarships for 50 teenagers, boys and girls, many of whom are orphaned, whose families cannot afford their hostel fees, while they are living to far away from a school that is able to offer them the support they need to successfully matriculate.

The fundraising target for the Scholarship Fund of the Themba Trust for 2019 is R1,4 million (USD 100,000.-; EU90,000.-).

Once this target has been reached, the Young Africa FOUNDATION will focus on raising funds for another youth development project that helps kids from poor homes to break through the mud-ceiling of poverty.

The Young Africa FOUNDATION is a non-profit organisation, which is registered in South Africa, Registration Number: 2018/593030/08, as a social enterprise (non-profit company).

It forms part of the greater “Young Africa VISION”, which is explained in more detail on the website: http://www.

The Young Africa FOUNDATION raises funds for the following purposes:

  1. providing scholarships to disadvantaged children and youth to access education and training opportunities, including providing hostel scholarships or pay for student accommodation, to make it possible for children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds to live closer to schools or training institutions so that their chance of successfully completing their matric or training courses are improved;
  2. enabling disadvantaged youth to access services such as drug rehabilitation, counselling or other healthcare services; or
  3. enabling disadvantaged youth to access enterprise development funding to start own small businesses; or
  4. enabling disadvantaged youth to access workplace readiness programmes that help them to find work.
  5. enabling disadvantaged youth to participate in volunteer opportunities serving other public benefit organisations, by enabling the payment of a stipend to them while they are doing such volunteer work.

Our work is currently faced on supporting children and youth in Africa.

The Young Africa FOUNDATION is the 'guardian' of the Young Africa VISION, which is aimed at creating an enabling environment for Africa's 200 million youth to fulfill their potential. We raise funds to support youth development and scholarships.
